Cuppers!!
February 10th, 2010Yes it’s that time of year again. Time for cuppers! Cuppers is the annual inter-college dance competition. But it’s not just about competition, it’s a chance for some friendly competition between all the dancers of Cambridge, university and non-university dancers alike.
The competition will be held at the University Centre on Saturday 20th February. The rock and roll will be at 5:30pm and there will be two categories:
Open beginners
Open seniors
Open means that any style may be danced in each round whether it’s authentic, modern or modern with acrobatics. All dances will be judged on their relative merits.
Each round will consist of just under two minutes of dancing. All you have to do is string a few moves together and repeat them as many times as you want. It’s a really friendly atmosphere so don’t be shy.
I hope to see many of you there.
There is more information on cuppers on the Cambridge Dancers Club website.

In week 1 and 2 of term, members of the Cambridge University Rock and Roll team performed a pair of new routines in front of audiences at the ADC theatre. Their act formed part of the Cambridge University Contemporary Dance Workshop’s annual show, Signatures.
The show was a massive hit with the student newspapers describing as:
“Impressive lifts and jumps” – Varsity
“[They] an apparently drug induced energy but the smiles on their faces were so honest they really were just loving it that much” – The Tab
“Fast paced, death-defying and joyous to watch” – TCS

May Week Demos Amaze Audiences
June 20th, 2009After months of preparation the team performed this year’s collection of group demonstrations for audiences at St. John’s and Pembroke May Balls as well as the CDC Summer Ball. The performance at Jesus May Ball was unfortunately called off due to heavy rain. We hope everyone who was able to attend enjoyed the show. Particular congratulations go to Frankie Dubery, Natasha Dumigan, Alex Greer and Alex Czerniewska for whom this was their first public performance with the team.
The team performed a number of exciting routines. Some of them were brand new this year and some were old favourites from last year. All of them may be viewed on our videos page.
